Stop Animal Cruelty
Animal cruelty is a phenomenon which is rampant in every corner of the world, even those places where it is punishable with death or rigorous imprisonment under the law. While such laws to prevent and stop animal cruelty have been enacted by almost all countries of the world, such laws are hardly enforced and culprits more often run free. Thousands of animals, including pets such as cats and dogs, apart from wild animals, suffer from immense maltreatment at the hands of us human beings. There are different varieties of animal cruelty, and you must have witnessed several situations in which animals came under physical torture by individuals for their own personal pleasure and entertainment. Also, another form of animal mistreatment includes owners not feeding their pets properly, leaving them malnourished and hungry. In other words, any kind of mental or physical misbehaviour with animals with the intention of harming them for personal gains can be regarded as animal cruelty. Animal cruelty is a heinous crime and should be stopped whenever you spot such a situation arising. You should always report such an incident, and here are certain tips on what kind of role you can play in stopping animal cruelty.
First of all, be aware and alert, by keeping your eyes and ears open at all times. You might have a humane society or an animal welfare organization functioning in your locality, but it might not be able to keep track of all cases of animal cruelty. Most of these organizations work with collaboration from citizens who report cruel behaviour whenever it occurs around them on an instant basis. You can get in touch with such an organization, and always be on alert whenever a case of neglect or abuse of an animal arises within your surroundings, to report to them.
Secondly, you should understand the signs and symptoms of animal cruelty. You should also observe any signs of abuse which might appear on an animal which has suffered from brutality. Such signs might include bruises and wounds on the body, extremely thin and starving, tick or flea infestations, patches of missing hair and limping. Another example of animal abuse are dogs which have been changed in the yard and left alone without being given access to water or food, and this will be regarded as an act of neglect. Another act of neglect is that of an animal suffering from an accident which incapacitates them, and the owner does not bother taking them to a veterinarian.
After you have understood the above points, you should always be ready to report any case of animal cruelty to the relevant animal welfare organizations operating in your vicinity. Also, some states have a functional Humane Law Enforcement Department with officers having the duty to investigate animal cruelty crimes and arresting any person who has committed animal abuse. When you report, provide a full sketch of what you saw and any other information that may come in handy during the investigation. Animal cruelty by all means is a barbaric crime and needs to be stopped. Play your role in defending these poor creatures which are actually helpless in crying for mercy.
